I was thinking of getting my car washed during lunch this afternoon, but google has been terrible about locating self service car wash locations, only really finding 1, a place called A BAY LASERWASH on Sardis Rd. N which isn't really close to where I work (uptown), or live (Steele Creek). Can anyone point me to a self service place that won't rip you off that is close enough to do on my lunch break? I believe there was one on S. Tryon right by me, but if there was, they just tore it down

^chalk up another vote for Scrub N Scoot.

There is also a self serve carwash on the corner of Monroe Rd & Wendover.

There is definitely a lack of coin operated car washes in the area! I've been out looking for them on lunch with very little luck.

I do know there is a new one being built on S Tryon / Westinghouse area (I forget the exact location), but it is not finished yet.

And another one on S.Blvd. It is north of Arrowood , beside Taqueria LaUnica. It is behind a building , and has a rather treacherous carpark.

The only ones I can think of are in the sketchy parts of town. I wouldn't go there because of the robberies and loitering.

If you insist on one of those washes, make sure the brush is clean if you must use it. I've seen those things used as engine and wheel cleaners, leaning posts, and being used to clean the paint. The thought of that makes me cringe. Why not just hit Auto Bell for an exterior wash and clean the inside out when you get home?

Do those things really get your car that clean? I'm not sold on the idea of using nothing but water pressure to remove road grime and bugs and junk from a car.
