Any ideas on a Jewelery & stones store - looking for some decent prices and good quality stones. Something near concord would be good but would hesitate to drive towards South Charlotte.

Makes no sense to me why anyone would spend that kind of cash on an online transaction where if something goes wrong or you get hoo-doo'd you have no one to go back to. There is no guarantee or accountability when purchasing on the internet.

Actually there's quite a bit of accountability. When you buy a diamond, for example, the buyer is encouraged to have the diamond examined by an independent appraiser to make sure that they're getting what they paid for. Internet merchandise is less expensive because the overhead is less expensive.
Like an other purchase if you do your homework beforehand you won't get ripped off.
I've never bought anything there, but I did sell them some old gold pieces of jewelry I had laying around. The service there was great and they did have lots of nice stones and jewelry.

There are many, many reputable online retailers. As Barkingowl said, do your research. An online company who's been in business for years with many satisfied customers is fine. A quick google will reveal unhappy customers, especially if they got ripped off!
There is a dirty secret about the jewelry industry. There is an incredible, as in obscene, markup on diamonds between the jewelry store and the buyer. It's on the order of 900% - 1200%. Markup is even higher on the smaller stones. Most of these diamonds are really not worth much because when this stuff ends up at the gold refiners, it's too much trouble to remove them for $25 - $40/carat. They will remove them by quick destructive means.
The only part of the jewelry that is worth anything are the precious metals.
The point is there really is no such thing as an honest jeweler. Shop price only.
