I’m thinking to buy a home in South Charlotte,North Carolina i.e from Matthews to Ballantyne to pineville and inclined to Ballantyne area.

But I’m not sure if this community is safe, good, has any DESI population ( South Asian community at all-- Indian, Chinese etc). Any input is greatly appreciated

Btw, we recently relocated to Charlotte,NC from Akron/Canton, Ohio and are renting here. Ours is small family and we are first time home buyers. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I guess school district in South Charlotte are better in North Carolina. Is that right?.

Hows the real estate market in South Charlotte in over all?

thx
Rancho

There are Indian and all other kinds of Asian people all over Charlotte. I work in Ballantyne and see what I believe are Indian people everywhere. Matthews is okay but I'd avoid Pineville. Ballantyne living isn't for me but it's beautiful, safe, stable and has excellent schools. Welcome!

Rancho, Ballantyne is one of the more desirable areas in Charlotte

My tip on home buying is this...find a very good realtor to help you in your search!

As I said, the Ballantyne area's schools are some of the best in the city. Definitely get in touch with a good realtor.

I visited few properties in South Charlotte & fort mill,SC.
The sales people said that the current price is at least 30-50K lower then what it used to be prior to recession ( prior to 2009) for a single family home ( < 300K is current price range).

Is that right?.

Use Zillow.com to check sale history for the last 5 years (goes up to 10). It is a great tool to see sale history for the houses you consider.
I personally did not put much weight on their estimate value and I noticed some mistakes with some houses listed sqft areas. Also some info is not up to date: i.e. showing houses for sale that have been sold.
We used realtor.com for a more up to date info on what is new on the market. Plus agent sent us a list with new homes.
Good luck!
