My husband just got a job in North Charlotte and we will be moving to Charlotte soon. We came down to visit Charlotte for a few days, and found a house we like in 28269...off David Cox Road. Street is Mallard Ridge Drive. I don't know the name of the neighborhood. Can anyone tell me anything about this area? Is it a safe neighborhood? We like the area because it would be close to my husbands new workplace. Thanks.

I believe that's actually called the Mallard Ridge subdivision. The area is very residential, very middle class. I think you should feel safe. Congrats on the new job!
When I first moved to Charlotte in 2005, I spent a couple years in a townhouse off David Cox Rd. Other than the occasional sketchy-looking group of teenagers walking to the store, I never had any problems with that area. It's actually very convenient, to both Northlake and Concord. You can take back roads to Concord Mills in no time, and everything else you need is within 5 minutes.
I think you'll be happy in that area. We are off of Prosperity Church Rd, have been here for almost 13 years and love it. Area is really growing. Be sure to ask about 485 beltway, construction is due to start soon.
Check out Davis Lake, Chesthunt and Brownes Ferry too!
