Hi all -

My family and I will be moving to NC. I believe I have chosen the Charlotte area.
We have 2 boys, 12 and 1 and 2 cats.
We have 2 cars.
I will work at home. He will look for work in transportation with a cdl/hazmat license.
We will rent a home for around $1100 a month.
Number one priority is good schools.
I am a Florida native.
I dont mind historic as long as its updated. I dont want to live in an outdated home. I am used to new construction here.
4-5 bedrooms would be ideal.
Is there anywhere I should stay away from?
Is there anywhere that I should really look into.
Nightlif is not important.
Baseball is important and family things.

Any other questions i can answer, can anyone help me?

My two cents:

Areas to stay away from: anywhere near the airport. Neighborhoods/developments off of Independence in Charlotte. You can map crimes here: Community Crime Information System
Areas to look at: Matthews is nice but lots of older houses, Steele Creek has lots of new construction.
Schools: no kids, so I can't help you there

If your husband has atleast two years driving experience, he could easily get a job hauling fuel. The nightshift is better pay plus he is home daily. He can expect $50k his first year. The Mt. Holly/Belmont/Paw Creek area would be closest to his work. Just make sure he gets a "tank" endorsement. Hazmat alone is not enough.

Not 100% sure on that one (my kids are in a charter school). My guess is that the better schools near northwest Charlotte are in Gaston county. Therefore I would focus on Belmont or Mt. Holly when you are house hunting.

It sounds like you need to up your game a bit on how much you plan to pay for rent for what you want. A 4-5 bedroom home in a good area in good schools will most likely cost you more than $1100 per month as those type of homes are highly sought ofter by transplants like yourself.

Hi chance.. I am actually having slot of luck in this price range. Although with 3-4 bedrooms not 4-5. In areas surrounding Charlotte. Are there any areas that stand out to you that would be bad? I'm going to copy and paste a few links here next.
