So for the past year and a half or so, my husband & I have been entertaining relocating to Charlotte from NY (SHOCKER)
My sister and BIL have lived there for three years, and LOVE It.
We have visited quite a few times, most recently this past weekend...each time we go, we check out areas..
Yesterday, we checked out the Circle at South End. I thought it would be a good option, as it puts us close to uptown, and 5 minutes away from my sister. My husband would be traveling back & forth for a few months until he hopefully gets his feet planted on the ground with some business. (He is self employed), so we both felt living in a building close to uptown would be best for me (us). We both make friends quite easily, so with this I am not concerned. Upon further research, it seems like the Circle gets nothing but negative reviews, with people saying that it too much like a frat house, loud, etc....So now, I feel like we are back to square one.

We REALLY ADORE the Ballantyne area, especially the Belle Vista complex, but I am nervous that there may not be enough going on there? Could anyone shed some light ? I am 31 DH is 35, no kids yet.

A part of me wants to stay close to uptown, to put me near all of the "life", but we really are not "party" people, but do enjoy going out.....If you have any other suggestions regarding Ballantyne, or uptown, I would welcome any. Thank you.

Hello! I am 31 and my hubby is 33 and we live in Ballantyne and we love it! We don't have kids yet and love to go out, but not the wild club scene. There are plenty of bars and tons of restaurants, and its a great place to live. You will love it here!

We also live in Ballantyne, with kids, and uptown is about 20 min from here. Even if you chose to go to uptown more often, it's fairly painless to get there from Ballantyne.

Good luck on your move!

We rented in Ballantyne, but just bought a home in Indian Land SC. We are about 10 minutes from Ballantyne now, but definetly further away from the social scene now! Their are tons of great apartment communities in Ballantyne that are in walking distance to bars/restaurants and shopping! We were never bored there!

I too live in the Ballantyne "area" - I'm off of Rea Road near Stonecrest Shopping Center (a little older with a teenager) - I work Uptown and it's a fairly painless drive.

There are quite a number of apt. complex communities in different prices ranges and some with different amenities. All depends on what you are willing to spend and where you want to be in "Ballantyne" or it's surrounding areas.

I used to live in Belle Vista and still have two friends there. They are 33 and 29. The pool is a lot of fun and always pretty lively. Walking to Ballantyne Village is a huge plus. Especially with Mellow Mushroom opening in the future now!

The condos are insulated pretty well. We had a really loud guy in top floor above us and he played his piano all the time. We couldn't hear it unless we opened the balcony door.
