If you're going to be near Pinehurst the Pine Crest Inn in the Village of Pinehurst NC makes a big to do about Thanksgiving. The food is always great and the rooms are decent for an old early 1900's hotel.
It was once owned by Donald Ross. the Scottish golf pro that actually designed the first 4 golf courses at Pinehurst including the legendary Pinehurst No.2 which has hosted many major tournaments over the years. There's much to see and many shops in the village to explore. The village actually looks more like a small Vermont town than a Southern community.
