In the most recent AYP results, in the Charlotte area, the top 3 districts were (in order) Mooresville Graded Schools, Union County Schools, & Cleveland County Schools. There are numerous threads concerning Mooresville & Union County schools. There are few about Cleveland County Schools.
The Gaston Gazette ran an article about Cleveland County Schools. Most of the county is not commuteable to Charlotte. It has been noted in other threads that the schools generally don't have all of the bells & whistles. This is because as budget cuts have been made the focus was on the classrooms.
