Sorry I forgot the Metro sexual Deer.

Yes, those metro sexual deer are a whole different situation. Not easy to spot but if you are looking closely, the hair gel gives them away every time.

Glad I could help, Foxy

Charlotte doesn't feel like a rural area at all. I grew up in a rural area in the Midwest. I always swore I would never live in a rural area as an adult. I've lived in bigger cities and mid-sized cities and Charlotte is definitely a mid-sized city and not a rural area.

There will be a culture shock though because Charlotte is very family oriented. I think someone on another forum said that Charlotte is a "pick your kids up from soccer practice" kind of town. So it'll be a lot different from L.A. But I still think that a single girl, early 20s, should be able to make friends pretty easily wherever she goes.

I have lived for short stints in Malibu and Santa Monica (work-related) and I not only saw lots of wildlife, the people were warm, welcoming and were very positive about North Carolina and/or the South in general. I would have loved to have stayed in the LA area permanently - felt totally at home there.

Where did you get these strange ideas about Charlotte?

The stories (not on the forum) really give me anxiety because I'm not sure I can handle seeing wildlife on my patio and damn mosquitoes and such in the summertime haha! I'm a true LA chick, none of us would be able to. But I have no choice at this point but to put my big girl pants on. Was hoping to get some mature advice about what to truly expect and maybe any bug spray tips, or dances I could do to calm a coyote (lol) on this forum, but I see that's not the case LOL. thank you all tho Anyone have any nailshop or beautician information? cause even though I'll be stuck indoors, I'd still like to get/keep my hair and nails did! LOL xoxo
I lived in northern part of LA. There was nothing worse that rattlesnake alerts during dry season. Give me the safety of Charlotte any day to the things that are threatening in LA. Unless you live in the dead center of downtown LA, you have as many or more critters than we. You have countless snakes, lizzards(poisonous ones even), rats, tarantulas, and many others. Unless you are homebound, you would know this.

I believe you are just pulling our leg. You might want to consider that a large number of people in Charlotte are college educated. Would that make you feel threatened?

I am sure that you will probably find a place to "get your hair and nails did."

I might as well tell you that there is a legendary monster up here on Lake Norman. It is named Normie. It is a version of the Loch Ness monster. Loch Ness is the name of a loch (lake) in Scotland. Scotland is a place far, far away. I haven't seen Normie yet, but it must be true because the nice man in the bar told me he had when he was at the Rusty Rutter bar drunk one night. Not only that, our neighboring state of South Carolina (yes, it has the same last name because one is north and one is south and both has the last name of Carolina) called Lizzard Man. It is real because people used to wear shirts with a picture of lizzard man on them. I have heard that since Lizzard Man was first seen years ago, he has had a family so there could be lizzard kids around Charlotte that might also be a danger.

Thanks for starting this thread. It is fun.

@DMG721 Thanks again. I've prepared myself for that culture shock. As far as it being family oriented, it actually wouldn't be too different than the area I'm from out here. And as long as there's a gym and a mall nearby, I'll be okay LOL. I would like to see what the nightlife scene has to offer(if anything), but that's not on the top of my priorities. I'm looking forward to almost everything EXCEPT those damn woods... hopefully nothing comes out of the ones that'll be in my backyard. LOL (getting nervous again).

I believe that it is the people in Charlotte that will need to prepare for a culture shock when you arrive.

Good luck. Remember, when you start your trip to Charlotte, go east or you will drive into the Pacific Ocean (that big water next to the beach).
