Best Established Developments in South Charlotte? (Matthews, King: best neighborhoods, houses, established neighborhood)

Like a lot of people from NY and NJ, me and the misses are soon planning to move to Charlotte from Queens. We've visited in March and loved the area, homes, and relaxed living. No comparison to living and working in NYC, not to mention a lot cheaper to. I'm a licenced traffic/transportation engineer and my wife is a director of admissions at a college. We're working on landing some interviews while we look for houses during one our our future visits.
We've been working/emailing with AllenTate and are trying to figure out the best established developments in the 4 & 5 areas (south Charlotte) before we come down. Our price range is around 450k. We like the fully constructed neighborhoods with trees and larger properties (0.5 acre minimum) in addition to an in-ground pool.
Which are the best established neighborhoods in South Charlotte providing 0.5 acre+ properties?
Yes at that price point I like Providence Plantation as well. The hardest part about what you are looking for will be the inground pool...there are 8 listings right now on the MLS that meet your criteria for area 4 and 5 with inground pool, but none in Providence Plantation. Have your realtor set up an automated search for you, so when a house comes on that meets your criteria you will get the listing as soon as it comes on the market.
Also, have you considered purchasing a home for maybe $400k instead of $450k that met all of your other criteria but didn't have the in ground pool? I think you'd have a lot more to choose from if you took the pool out of the equation, and you can use that extra $50k savings to build a nice in ground pool on your own.
Try Foxcroft. It is near South Park with many nice homes.
While I love Foxcroft, you can no longer buy in there for under $600,000, and most are well over 1 million. Foxcroft East has homes a bit cheaper, but not under $500,000.
I would suggest Cotswold, where you can get a home in that range still and at least half an acre sometimes. There are also places like Mountainbrook, Town and Country or Coachman Ridge where you can still find homes in the half acre to just under an acre size in that price range.

The problem is, $450,000 does not go very far in the "established" best neighborhoods with that big of a lot. You can go further out to get that bigger lot, or get a house in that price range on a third of a lot or less. Providence Plantation, as suggested, is nice and established, but again the larger over half an acre lots are usually over $500,000, but not always

50K...? Is that what a pool installation costs these days? I've haven't looked into it yet. Who does this type of work in Charlotte that i could get some information from?
Try Providence Plantation (the older part - you can tell the difference).
Providence Plantation is very nice and the type of neighborhood that we are looking for. We visited my friend in March who lives in that neighborhood, which sold us on moving. We had no idea that the area was that nice at the time. So any neighborhood similiar to that would be great.
