We are getting ready to put our house on the market, and are going in to contract to have a home built. Depending on how long it takes to sell the house, we will probably be storing most of our household items and moving in with my inlaws for a while, especially since our new home will probably still be under construction after we sell this one. We currently live in Apex, but our house under construction is in Charlotte. I am trying to figure out what the best way to store and move our items is. I know there are places like PODS that store your items AND move them for you. We could also just use a traditional storage facility but I think it would be expensive to store a whole housefull of items for several months, then hire a rental truck to move everything, etc.

Any other ideas, or anyone have a service/facility in Charlotte or Apex/Raleigh/Cary they used and would recommend? Thanks!!!

We recently moved my mother, and had to store her stuff for 2 months between the move out and the move in. We found it to be less expensive to have a POD delivered, picked up, stored, and then delivered when we needed it than it would have been to rent a truck (twice) and a storage unit. You also only have to handle everything once, you aren't pressured to hurry to get packed, and you don't have to waste time driving the moving truck (not something most people are used to doing- especially if you need a 26' truck. Lastly, it's far easier to put stuff in a POD thats 4" off the ground than a truck thats 4' off the ground.....
