Can someone suggest a good lender with low APR. we are planning to put 20% down and have good credit score 740+. We visited many banks and all are giving above 4.35% APR (even though in TV news they show, now national average for 30 yr loan is below 4% ??!!!) ..with origination fee and discount points. Some of the Loan officers noted down our ph nos and promised to call us with best rate. but no one called us so far. Didnt think shopping for home loan would be this tough. Looks like no one wants to give loan... even for people with good credit history and 20% down. No wonder why real estate market is not improving ??!!!
Ah also ...we are first time home buyers .

Did you try Quicken Loans? They are usually pretty good at matching people with a good lender.

Wells Fargo is who we used for out last home loan and they were great.

I would shop an independent mortgage broker that is going to shop rates for you. I have a great broker that I can recommend out of the Steel Creek area if you're interested.

With what I'm seeing right now that is high and most banks have gone away from charging origination fees. At least with the transactions I've seen in the last 60 days.

I made an offer on a home but didn't end up buying. I worked with Rick Melville at Fairway Mortgage in South Charlotte. He was very detailed and great to work with through the whole pre-approval process.
