When I get thereI will be looking down there as schools are an important factor in home values. We do not have too much experience in the areas as I have relied upon a couple of realtors who have primarily been focusing on Huntersville, Northstone, Mt. Island Lake area. I know that is north and I also understand that traffic is even worse down I-77. True?? When I was there for the day (during my interview), I saw Birkdale Village and Ballantyne. I thought they were both nice. I also saw some areas down in Fort Mill, S.C. and I thought there were nice places there, but more rural (less shopping, etc). BTW, the rental house is located almost exactly at the mid point of Hwy. 51 between Mint Hill and Matthews. Does that make a difference?

What makes a difference is which side of Independence Blvd it is on. Can you be more specific?

Okay, here's my personal opinion - when needing to get uptown if you can avoid Independence Blvd you should. I love Mint Hill, and that area in particular where the rent house is is very nice and safe. However, living there would not be as attractive to me because it would mean dealing with Independence. If however, you really want a house over an apartment I would say go for it. I would prefer the commute from the Beverly Crest area myself
