As for the commute (I get a little tired of saying this-but ne'r the less will continue!) we live in Mooresville, around 5 miles from I77 exit 33-off Brawley. My husband left for work on East Bvd in Charlotte at 6.50 and was there by 7.35. That is the case most days.
If he leaves at 6.35 he can usually do it in 35 mins.
Surely no one can argue that a 30 mile city commute at peak time taking 45 mins is bad,and the slowest part of the journey is up to J19 I77.
Huntersville is between 16 and 18 miles (J25 and J23) from Charlotte depending on where you are.
Plus I believe there's the option -(depending on where you are in Huntersville) of taking Beatties Ford Road.

Also wanted to say there's a non-stop express bus from Huntersville to uptown which takes around 25 mins.
It runs from 5.45am until 8.50 am and there are buses every 15 mins or so.
The outbound buses start at 3.20 pm and run every 15 mins or so until 6.27
It departs from the park and ride on 21 at I77 exit 23.
It costs $2.40 each way, or you can buy a monthly pass for $96
