He will run on roads with small shoulders - scares the heck out of me so I try to find as many trails as I can to prevent him from running so close to traffic. He's 17 and honestly this is the only teenage issue we have, so I suppose we're lucky! He runs between 50-80 miles a week.

We're relocating and I haven't found the trails yet.... Any suggestions?

This one if farily close to you and has trails to run on. They are shared by bikes, though.

Here's a link to the home page for Parks & Rec. There are a lot of greenways but I don't know what parks have trails other than Francis Beatty.

The Charlotte Greenway is nice...although it is not that big so if he is running 80 miles a week it might not be challenging enough!

There arent many sidewalks in waxhaw/marvin. A clsoe drive would be the Anne springs greenway, i bet it would be perfect! Leroy Springs & Company, Inc | Anne Springs Close Greenway

There are no small shoulders here. I recommend you keep him off the roads altogether.

Definitely agree. It seems like every week there is a story about a pedestrian or bicyclist who was hit and killed on our roads. There's no way I would let my child run along a road in this city.

Good thing the OP is not in a city.

Ok, stickler, I'll revise to I would not let my child run along a road in this metro area.

Hope that makes your day.
