Hello C/D family. My girlfriend and I are planning a wedding and trying to do so on a budget. If you know of any caterers that offer reasonable prices that will help. Also, wedding planners will be nice as well. Pretty much if you any advice or contacts for everything that will be nice. We're looking at 200 people for the reception. Thanks to all who can assist.

Here is some good info - not local but good for an inexpensive wedding. Costco Connection - March 2011

Good luck. I was trying to plan a wedding on a budget for 65 people. I have given in and decided to have it in my home state of FL simply because there are no venue rental fees- which can range from $1000-$4000 here. Add food, ceremony fee, officiant, favors, dress, tux, invites, hair, make up etdc, and woooooo, the numbers are over whelming. Good luck though! dont know what your "budget" is for 200 people, but i would plan on spending a minimum of $25k due to the amount of guests. For some that is a budget... for me thats a very expensive party.

If you share what your actual budget is, I may have some suggestions. Most weddings are on a budget...whether the budget is $5,000, $15,000, or $25,000.

Yep-ours was $4000 (in the UK!)
We had 40 guests, no evening do, I hand wrote the invites, my dress was $300 in an end of season sale, husband wore a suit, boys wore nice outfits and girls dresses from a local store.Did table decorations and favors myself
Had a nice Mercedes taxi cab and cake made by a local department store- 3 tiers of sponge covered with white chocolate curls for $80.
Most expensive thing was the photographer at $800.

If you're willing to go north a little bit, our reception was at the Charles Mack Citizen's Center in downtown Mooresville. They are very reasonable and easy to work with. There is a florist in Mooresville, Clipper's that could do simple arrangements at a good price. If you're interested in that area let me know. My mother-in-law used a caterer I'll have to find out the name for up that way for my SIL wedding. Or check out the quarry at Carrigan Farm...that place is really reasonable and pretty for an outside wedding.
