Hi All,
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me! I currently live in Hilton Head, SC, and am thinking of moving to Charlotte. I am a very positive person who loves the beach, my dog, community involvement (volunteering, 12 step program, coffee shops, live music, etc) and being happy. Is this a good place for me to move - in terms of meeting people my age and living an active life? (I am also on the lookout for finding my hubby...) I have a master's degree in education and am open to doing any sort of work...Thanks!
If you are single and looking for a great place to be, Charlotte can meet your needs. Keep this in mind and I tell this to a lot of transplants:
Whatever it is you are looking for, you have to go and find it. It is not going to jump out at you here like in bigger - World Class - cities and grab you. You have to grab it.
There is plenty of things to do and Charlotte has any and everything to meet your needs. It is up to you to invest yourself in the community.
As a 33 year old single man, please come, because we need more 33 year old single women here. LOL.
Personally I don't think there's a huge singles scene here for people in their 30s. It's definitely more of a married town. If you like to stay active and volunteer, you'll probably be fine. But there aren't as many singles our age here in Charlotte as there are in much bigger cities such as DC, NY, etc.

+1 for your first comment. lol
2nd comment: There is a huge scene here, you just have to find it. Bigger cities have it out in your face. I use creative loafing and yelp. Those are two sites where you can find tons of "singles" events.
Maybe one day the single scene won't require you to use those sites to find events. lol
In the south, still, vast majority or entertaining is done in homes. Married, single, whatever. You need to meet people, get invited to their homes. That is where the "scene" really is.
