Hey everybody, just curious, is the airport overlook open 24/7 or does it close? I want to go there later tonight but I want to make sure it isn't closed. Thanks!

Do they care if you take a camera and take pictures or will Homeland Security sent you to Guantanamo?

Cameras are allowed. I have seen quite a few folks taking pictures.

Park either far left or right in lower lot closest to runway for best view from a car however it never fails someone in SUV blocks your view.

I wished they would make a viewing area of back of parking area so that the new runway could be seen.

Yeah you can take pictures it never fails it cloudy the days I have my camera and can't see Uptown in the background.

Or you could jump the fence, board the plane thru wheel well and take a flight to be air drop near Philly. It seems to be in thing to do.

I went to see the Antonov AN-225 when it was here last year, and people had all kinds of cameras.

OTOH, you don't want to be using a camera in other areas around the airport, like the hanger areas. A couple years ago I was working, taking pics of rooftops and cell towers from ground level and was pulled over by a CMPD officer and two Humvees full of armed Guardsmen. That wasn't fun.

I've never had a problem the few times I was there and usually I am not the only one taking shots.

Watch out for the elderly lady who comes for (apparently) the Lufthansa flight arriving from Munich in the afternoon. My husband and son saw her last week.

As far as I'm aware there hasn't been any disasters involving Lufthansa or flights to or from Germany.

My wife and I theorize she has a family member on the flight crew and is doing a Native American ritual to to keep them safe, just a theory. We saw her about two weeks ago when it took off, next time we see her we are going to ask her.
