18 year old Dawn Loggins of Lawndale, has an amazing story to tell. She has been homeless, abandoned by her parents, and called a high school dropout. But she didn't let those challenges stop her from living her dream of one day attending an Ivy League University.

This post should be called "So what's your excuse?" What a great story.

It was posted on the Charlotte news, it's an hour away, and Charlotte is the closest major city to Lawndale. I'll take that affiliation any day!

Sometimes it's just nice to hear a great story like this instead of some of the other crap people post on these forums. Kudos to Dawn for her hard work and not giving up. Hope this inspires many people.

I wish there was a way to spot kids like this early in their lives and devote more resources directly to them.

I love it. Drives to succeed and does not give up. Shows this girl is hungry for greatness.

Last year, I read about a kid from my rough hometown in Southern Virginia who was in and out of homelessness who was heading to Virginia Tech. It is a testament to the fact that when you are willing to put in the work and keep the faith success won't be far behind no matter your situation.
