indeed. This amendment is vague, poorly written and certainly against *ANY* unmarried couple or unmarried parent in the state. Time will only tell how the judges interpret this ambiguity of language. (good or bad, but, probably not in the best interests of anyone that is not married)
The statute against gay marriage and the (lack of) rights for gay partners for protection against domestic violence is already on the books. This amendment is only adding hate to our constitution.
Please read the following from some of the most prestigious family law professors in the state:
My point is Sunny is that it happens on both sides, and again I doubt many people are swayed by signs. Honestly I don't see this being a thread worthy topic. It just so happens that you have a vested interest in it.
No doubt that such an amendment born of primitive hatred and division would spark such open hatred and incivility in the state. Even churches are in combat against each other. Shame on the Republican legislature and the rightwing group pushing this poisonous amendment.
Not one thread can go without SOMEONE insulting another poster they disagree with.
This isn't a simple matter of political disagreement. This is an attempt by a bigoted group to sanction inequality in the primary legal document of the state. Indeed, the amendment itself is an insult to North Carolina and ALL North Carolinians. Those who support the amendment are having their intelligence insulted and their religious convictions exploited by a legislature intent on harming their economic interests. Gay and unmarried North Carolinians are blatantly made second-class citizens by the Amendment. And all others are harmed by having their home state tarnished with such absurdity.

All that may be true but the issue here is someone removing a sign, no matter the content of the sign, that has been legally placed by the onwer on her property.
The person or persons who did this are quite simply supressing the owner's desire and right to communicate their views publically because they (the remover(s)) presumably do not agree with the signs' slogan.
That is just wrong. Under current NC law, as I understand it, this could heve constituted a threat to the owner (invasion of property, threatening behaviour, theft of property) and they could have gotten themselves shot.

Everyone has their own personal opinion....so instead of insulting anyone you disagree with, have some class and keep the trash-talk out of the discussion. It does nothing but show your level of intelligence. That's my point. I have no dog in this fight....I couldn't care less about the amendment either way. There is always something that works to divide us and this is no exception. Just realize that like everything else, everyone has their take on the subject, and passion is not exclusive to one side, no matter how "right" you like to think you are.
