Was just thinking outloud, trying to make sense of what could be going on.
The impending arrival of the DNC is bringing lots of unsavory action to the city. Generally, any big convention or event does. Don't be so naive as to think local gangs aren't already planning how to rip off the conventioneers.
Politicians and hookers are one in the same... I don't think anyone is surprised the hoe game will see an uptick due to a political convention.
As far as local gangs gearing up for the DNC? Nah.. no way. Too much LE and Federal LE for any gang activity. The only problems the city will have is petty theft, car theft and the reckless hookers who steal or set guys up.

Don't dismiss the business potential that new customers will bring. Gangs will be positioning for market/territory coverage with so many people coming to the city.

Definitely not dismissing it... but I don't see a connection to the DNC in this instance and I doubt most drug deals or violence in the urban areas of Charlotte are due to the DNC coming.

There is also the economy or lack thereof and of course you have those that will always lean to this lifestyle, no matter what.
