I just ran across this very interesting article:

News Headlines

It sounds to me like the Charlotte area just lost some competition. I thought Lowes Foods was doing pretty good in the Charlotte market?

I live by the Lowes in Mint Hill. Dosen't make sense when there are two Harris Teeters near by and one down the street in Matthews. I kinda like the Lowes there and get good deals there. To me The deals are better than HT.. But oh well

Article says Lowes store being aquired by HT, 1 in Weddington and 1 in Wesley Chapel. I know there is one in WC (right across from a HT) but, not one in Weddington.

I used to like going to Lowes for the green stamps. Once they quit giving them, it made no difference to me if I went to Teeter or Lowes.

Interesting news.

The Lowes in Cornelius (pretty much Huntersville) is also less than half a mile from another HT.

So if I'm remembering correctly, will the only Lowes left in the Charlotte metro be Harrisburg, Mooresville and Gastonia?

I wonder if they mean the one on Idelwild Rd, which is really Stallings? The Wesley Chapel store is never busy at all and has really drug the whole shopping center down. I bet it is the one that gets subleased with an HT that is pretty busy right across the street.

They will all be Harris Teeters now. This article speculates that this is a proactive move since Publix is entering the market.
