We got CPI when we built our house last year. We like it and have no problems with it. We have the in touch. I like it because I can monitor it from my phone and have the camera set up to watch the back of our house. We are in a 5 year contract, but if something happens and we have to sell the house, it will go with the house if we are no longer in the area.

I can not possibly fathom why a person would let a company or anybody in general have access to a camera that is inside my house. I don't care what kind of polices and procedures are in place.

The previous owner of the home I purchased had the whole in-touch system with camera. He showed it to me once - the alarm could be activated or deactivated from a smartphone and if the alarm was triggered, the camera would activate to take pictures which could also be viewed on the phone. The previous owner also had a sensor on the garage to indicate if it was open or closed. While I thought it would be nifty to be able to arm or disarm my alarm from my phone, I wasn't willing to pay the extremely high price they wanted.

If you're already using them and don't mind the high price, the extra features might be worth it to you. For me, I would want some additional home automation for the amount of money they were asking - and even then it would be too much.

We are currently renting a home and did not want to get stuck in a three year or more contract. After reviewing all of the options we went with Time Warner Cable's Intelligent Home. I have been very pleased. There is NO contract and the implementation costs were the cheapest I found. CPI was too expensive and would not work with us.
