there were some stories in various publications and blogs about churches helping house folks displaced by the convention. Haven't heard about anyone getting a one way ticket to take the Hound outta town, a la NYC (wh/ provides free tickets to homeless to several locations in NC so they have a chance for a "better start" outside the big city)
I heard many press and some delegate were disappointed in their assigned hotels. (Some wound up at the Knights Inn and some other seedy places). Many defected to Hilton, Hampton, and Marriotts in Rock Hill. The Daily Show crew, for instance, is staying in South Carolina.

What!!!!!Are you serious????????? Wow. I always said Charlotte did not have enough "nice"
hotels to accommodate something of this magnitude.
National Review isn't really a reputable source, much less John Fund. They have a vested interest in making the Dems look bad, too, but they have reported that it wasn't just their crew stuck in bad hotels. Friends of mine overheard the Daily Show crew mention staying in SC, and the shot from Monday night's Daily Show of a barbecue joint is a place on Cherry Road in Rock Hill.
When an audience member asked where he was staying, Stewart said he and the crew are staying in South Carolina because they couldn’t get rooms in Charlotte. “We would have loved to have stayed in North Carolina – forget Charlotte,” Stewart said. “I don’t commute like this at home.”
Gotta love political conventions... complain, complain, complain...
