I am coming to Charlotte for my spring break. I don't want to wait till the last minute so I am trying to plan it out now. I am stuck between three hotels.
The intown suites on independance blvd in Matthews
The Microtel inn at the airport
The Econolodge on Queens city drive
I Want to make my reservations this week. Friends and family tell me if I book it months ahead I have a better chance of getting lower prices. Any opinions on these 3 hotels?
I want to visit epicenter, Carolina place mall, north lake mall. I would like to eat at showmars, sonic, Matt Chicago dog. I am also a woman and don't want to stay in the ghetto.
jeez, I wouldn't want to stay at any of those. But if I had to choose I'd go with the Matthews location (although it is not exactly close to any of your destinations. Then again, none of your choices are lol).
Keeping in line with your list, you may want to stay at the econolodge on Independence close to uptown. Plus it's only about $50 per night. We've had friends stay there with no problem, although the hotel next door has a higher than average "transient" population.

the good thing about staying at the econolodge at 3000 E. Independence is you are very close to uptown and that equals a cheap and quick cab ride. Plus you can jump right on Independence and be at ANY mall in less than 30 minutes. And it's only about 10 minutes from SouthPark (which I noticed is not on your list, but should be). Plus it's close to all the uber-cool hip places in Elizabeth and Plaza-Midwood.
The only bad thing is that it is exterior access. I haven't heard of any violent crime there that I can remember, but exterior access wigs some people out... I'm not one of 'em.
I am going to check with the cmpd website for each place I visit before I go. They have this crime map that shows what has happened in any particular area.

Good idea. Keep in mind the REALLY terrible hotel on the other side of Independence from that location is closed now...
Good to know. I believe it was the Charlotte inn correct? I read an article that the city was going to close it down because it was a crime magnet?
