the CBJ said Charlotte will lead NC in job growth for 2013!!!

Raleigh & Durham had been leading for the last several years. Charlotte is around 2.5x bigger than Raleigh so It's quite awesome we're going to have a higher growth (which means we're producing a lot more raw number of jobs. Though our unemployment was higher, I think we already hit pre recession job levels)

glad to see this. 2013 is going to start our new post recession Charlotte

This doesn't surprise me one bit. Out of NC's 13 Fortune 500 companies, 8 are in metro Charlotte (7 in Charlotte, 1 in Matthews, and 1 in Mooresville). This doesn't include Domtar which is located in Fort Mill and doesn't count for NC. With the addition of Domtar, metro Charlotte has 9 total. Among the 27 or so Fortune 1,000 companies in NC, 15 are in metro Charlotte. It's clear that when the economy starts to turn around, Charlotte is in the position to see the largest benefits. However, when the economy tanks, metro Charlotte is the most vulnerable (something we've all seen over the past 5 years).

The biggest problem I see with our metro is that the people-growth seems higher (or just as high) as the job growth. At some point, our job growth needs to be higher than our population growth; only then will unemployment go down. Still though, it is nice to see job announcements for our area; even if they did come with MASSIVE tax incentives.

you've got to realize that many are relocating here to spend their retirement. work for a lot of those folks may consist of a part-time job or volunteer activities.

people and jobs go hand in hand. the more people who come here, the more jobs will be created because more resources are needed.

With JELD, Electrolux, Rato Power in Denver among others who are not only moving their head quarters but manufacturing will help the Queen City and area shine its crown.

I have gut feeling this area will be in great shape by the summer of 2014.

It would have been so much better if Cleveland County had not blown the Electrolux plant.
