German toymaker will relocate its Schleich (which rhymes with “like”) North America Inc.'s North American headquarters from Canada to Charlotte. It will employ more than 60 at headquarters and a distribution center.
Great news for CLT! Wasn't there a German independent toy store in Myers Park that closed down recently? Black Forest Books/Toys maybe? I may be making up the fact that it was German, but I think I accurately remember its charm!
where on mallard creek is it? in the professional park across from the research park? i havent seen any new warehouses/distribution centers being built off of mallard creek.
The site on Mallard is where they will be conducting sales the same address as the Ben Craig Center, in ste 246across the street of Mallard Creek Animal Hospital.
I dont know where the HQ or distribution center will be.
The article says the distribution center and HQ will be in the Twin Lakes Business park. This park exists between Hwy 115 and Hwy 21 North between Harris Blvd and Huntersville. Part of the park was used for the I-485 which cut it in 1/2.
Good for Schleich AG. The Germans have always "liked" Charlotte and in particular Mecklenburg Country because, I think, of the historical connections with the German nation and the German name of the county.
I hope they find a good home here. I am sure that they will.
I wonder if the people in germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and China are crying about outsourcing to the U.S.?
