That is cool, I suck at night photograpjy especially aiming up. Only way I find with digital camera is use the timer but aiming straight up for me going to have a camera shake.

It looks like the moon has it own star the way the illusion that they are next to each other.

I assume that dot roughly north of the Moon is Jupiter?

If you have a smartphone you should install Google Sky which allows you to aim your phone at the sky to find stuff.

Remember Jupiter is bigger so the moon will be the little one.

On a PC you can install C2A from here C2A - Planetarium Software.
This is a pretty good and free astronomy program.

Jupiter and Venus were doing a show together in the morning sky above Charlotte last fall. Their relative position would change each week and since Venus is much closer, would move a lot compared to Jupiter. Since that time, Venus has moved out of sight, but Jupiter continued to rise in the sky until it is seen where it is now.

It's amazing to think that something that is as far away as Jupiter which only reflects light, can be seen with the naked eye. Both Venus and Jupiter were visible even when the sun had started to rise and had already drowned out the stars.

Tonight Skywatch
Look for them shortly after sunset!
Tonight, Mars and Mercury are in conjunction, meaning they share the same right ascension on the sky’s dome (equivalent to longitude on Earth). These two worlds appear only a fraction of one degree apart, less than the width of your little finger at an arm’s length.
