I am very uncomfy with this. Even the article mentions gun control. Why are we doing this? Who's idea was it?
I didn't watch tonight's #cltcc meeting but I can't imagine it being voted down by anyone if it had come up for a vote. YOU WOULD BE AGAINST THE CHILDREN.
I'd rather see the money spent on Mental Health research or anything that might encourage prevention/rehabilitation/incarceration of such societal misfits.

I just had a horrible thought.
The article says:
"The department has secured $100,000 for the project and will seek the rest through private donations."

How do you feel about it and why?
However well intentioned the park dedication may be, the idea of dedicating a park to murdered children, is morbid.

Perhaps not morbid when done in the community where such an act took place, but that is plainly weird to have a park pop up in S. Charlotte . . . oh my.
I think it's really odd. It makes sense for this to be built in Newtown, but why in Charlotte? Also, I've completely shielded my kids from this story ( they are 5 and 7). Would this park have a commemorative plaque or statue? If so, what would it say? It could prove upsetting to children. I know people have good intentions with these things but this is seriously misguided in my opinion.
This event didn't happen in Charlotte or anywhere near here. Furthermore, I don't understand why anyone would think it was a good idea to create a playground that would remind people and their kids about mass shooting every time they visited.
It must be good to be a government worker. There is absolutely no accountability for any stupid idea.
