Young family in late 20s / early 30s with 2 toddlers. I'm in IT, better half is stay at home mom (former teacher). Looking at a move to Charlotte this summer from Peachtree City, GA. Job is near Veteran's Park.

Searching for a neighborhood with a sizeable young family population (25-35yrs old), 3-4 bedroom house with a decent yard, not to exceed $1400 per month in rent, and a commute less than 20 minutes. Size of the house not as important as location, friendly neighborhood, things to do and fenced in yard. Access to community pools or YMCA (or local equivalent) and local parks for evening walks and kids playgrounds are a plus as well. Into outdoors, fishing, adult coed kickball, kayaking/rafting, lacrosse, anything for kids under 3 yrs to do during the weekday (music class, playdates, etc.), board games. Not concerned about restaurants, but would like to be near decent grocery stores and possibly a CHIPOTLE (wife's favorite). We drive Honda Element and Minivan which might shape the feel for the neighbors and area we'd fit best in.

Something similar to any of the below neighborhoods within our price range would work out pretty great:

Carrollwood (Tampa)
Davis Island (Tampa)
Heights (Houston)
Bellaire (Houston)
Montrose (Houston)
Arlington Heights (Chicago)
Virginia Highlands (Atlanta)

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Given what you said, I recommend looking in Sherwood Forest and neighborhoods around it. I don't know if it is like the neighborhoods you list as I am unfamiliar with all of them, but Sherwood Forest and the places around it should meet your requirements and it's not far from Veteran's Park.

Also cruise Timberlake/High Timbers off Sardis Road North. Also, Sardis Forest behind and attached to these aforementioned.
