Does anyone know of any places like Uptown that are nice such as South End. I am new to the area and work in uptown. I would like to live in an area that is close to the city and where I can walk or take the lightrail. South End seems nice, but is there other any other areas on the outside of uptown within walking distance or using the lightrail.

Thanks for your help all

Elizabeth, Cotswold, certain parts of Plaza-Midwood, and Dilworth (pricey) would all have a neighborhood-y vibe and are really nice. Of those, probably Dilworth is the only one within walking distance of the blue line. You can try apartment complexes on Tyvola and Woodlawn, which aren't too far from south end and (east of tryon) can be fairly close to the blue line.

I don't know your budget but there is always uptown itself as well as Fourth and 1st wards. In all of them you can walk to work.

That's right - I had a friend who lived in Fourth Ward off of 9th - and it was an incredibly convenient, suprisingly quiet spot. Also surprising: quite a few parking spots in his experience. I always forget that one!

You don't want to move to 1st ward.

Thanks for the help. I'll def check those out. And my price range is around 130k for a one bedroom, a two would be great. I see last year this wouldnt have been an issue, but the condos in uptown have been increasing in price and going quickly when listed.

That budget is tight around uptown. There are a few 2 bedroom condos/apartments for rent in the fourth ward for about 1500. The Enclave in first ward might have some decent condos for rent. They are building some new apartments in Plaza Midwood that might work for you. Good luck!
