Sunny recently posted information about new buildings planned uptown. I recall one being planned by the ball park being constructed and one by the Day's Inn on North Tryon. Does anyone know specifics of projects and time frames?
Right next to Catalyst is going to be a 22 story apartment building by Childress Klein.
On North Tryon is going to be a similar sized apartment building by Novare. They're using the same style building all over the southeast under this "Skyhouse" moniker.
There's also another midrise going up in Third Ward across from the BB&T Ballpark on the block of Graham, MLK and 3rd but no renderings have been made available yet.

Thanks Cleveland. I believe that a 45 story structure was mentioned as well. I wonder if they will build on Tryon at Third where Westtbook Insurance and Pound and Moore once stood? There was going to be a huge building there at one time.

Maybe you're referring to 300 S Tryon? The development site was active up to maybe six months ago. Now that it's been taken down it's been moved to the cancelled category IMO. It's a shame though, it was going to be a nice looking building.
I'm eagerly awaiting a rendering of the "transformative" project that was annouced in January going on Stonewall/Tryon intersection where the Goodyear currently sits.

There is some prime development land uptown. You named two. I believe the lot where Goodyear sits was the one purchased by Donald trump. I remember the 50 story condo going there with the cheapest condo going for $1 million. How exciting just speculating.
There is massive demand to rent in Uptown. I wonder how this is going to play in the next few years. Are more people going to want to live Uptown keeping rates the same. Or will there be so many units, driving down the price. The Catalyst is FULL and from what I understand the very expensive Vue is about at 70%.

I'm guessing it's going to mainly depend on exactly what the renter is looking for. I don't think new residential towers is going to cause others prices to drop.
This is a particularly ugly, generic looking building which, IMO, Charlotte would be better off without. It lacks any architectural relevance except as an example of how to build as cheaply as possible. It's like many homes built in this area now. i.e. All about size and nothing else.
