Moving back to NC with two teenagers and looking for good high schools. I need a reasonable commute to both Hickory, where my family lives and Charlotte, where I will likely work. I've heard both Denver and Lincolnton and just wanted to get some perspective on the differences? Thanks!

Great schools in East Lincolnton. Denver is closer to Charlotte and on Lake Norman. With the new Hwy 16 bypass, your commute would be easy to Charlotte. You probably be about 40 minutes to Hickory. I wouldn't suggest Lincolnton. Much more rural and far away from Charlotte. Your teens would probably be happier at East Lincoln High School and activities on Lake Norman. Personally, I'd like a shorter commute to work than to see the family on a Saturday.

Default East Lincoln schools

Thanks for the info... I agree about the commute. I've heard I should look at North Lincolnton high school and someone posted here that East Lincolnton high school wasn't a good school. What do you know about the different high schools?

I know Lake Norman High school (Mooresville) is on my wifes favorites for our children when they are old enough.

Default high school

Thank you. Can you tell me any neighborhoods in the Lake Norman high school district that I should look into?

Sherrills Ford

It takes me 20 minute to get to Hickory, 10 minutes to get to Mooresville, and 30 minutes to get to Uptown, and 1hr to get to the airport...

Default Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm definitely going to look into the locations everyone mentioned. I'm also job hunting. I'm an attorney licensed in Florida.

Denver is basically an extension of Charlotte similar to Pineville or Matthews. There is more to do and better shopping, but the traffic is as bad as Charlotte. There are good schools in both Denver and Lincolnton, but Lincolnton has a nice downtown area and less traffic (easier commute with 321 right here) Mark
