I will possibly be relocating to Charlotte from New Jersey in March, 2008. Anyone know of a good rental complex in the Ballantyne area? I am willing to spend up to $1,500 a month for 3 bedrooms. I have one daughter in 1st grade so a good school district is important to me. Also, how long of a commute would i have to downtown Charlotte from Ballantyne? thanks

We live at Cheswyck at Ballantyne and love it. The people there are really nice and lots of kids. Its a great area. Not sure about schools cuz my kids are younger. I know there are a lot of preschools...2 in walking distance. I know there is a school bus that picks the older kids up at the gate for school. The YMCA is a couple mins away and it is awesome! We went there every day in the summer. You have to check that out!! If your working downtown expect a commute! It takes my husband a hour to get home. He works right by the airport. It takes about 30 to 40 in the morn. The traffic is just terrible during rush hour and we hate it!!!! Hope this helps. Good luck!!

Default Rush hour times?

What times are considered to be rush hour in Charlotte?
Morning, afternoon, and evening hours?

i also live in the cheswyck and love it. we have a good rental price for 2 bedrooms here, just a little more than half of what you are willing to pay for 3 bedrooms. i would also check out the other apartment complexes off of ballantyne commons. they are a little more money than the cheswyck, but definitely worth checking out to see what will best suit your family. i don't know what school district the kids go to here. i don't see a ton of kids around here, but i think that's because there just many in my building.

Depends on where in Charlotte you are talking about. It is very spread out.

If you are talking Ballantyne, I-485 crawls from about 3pm - 7pm (eastbound of I-77 heading towards Ballantyne). Some days are better than others. And when I say crawl, I mean crawl. I use to work in an office building where we could see I-485 (I-485 & Johnston Rd) and would watch the traffic come to a crawl almost everyday by 3pm.

Too much growth
