Antenna is facing southeast. If Kings Mountain or Croders Mountain has a tower I guess I should be receiving channel 9, but since I am not, do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help!
In what city or county are you located?

And do you receive WCCB channel 18? They broadcast from the same basic location in Charlotte as main Channel 9. If you are west of Charlotte in Gaston or Cleveland counties, then you may have better luck receiving their Crowder's Mountain translator relay signal on 9.5, but that will require a High VHF antenna to receive real channel 12. Main WSOC 9.1 is UHF channel 19. And possibly try an adjustable gain amplifier.

The channels you receive are all broadcasting from tall towers in Dallas, NC in Gaston County, mainly 3, 36, and 46. WAXN-64 is now broadcast in a signal share agreement with WBTV-3, on their same channel 23 strong signal. 55 is broadcast on the same channel 25 signal as sister station WJZY-46.

You may want to try a Clearstream MAX-V Pro antenna sold at Best Buy or Antennas Direct. Good UHF antenna with a VHF dipole. $119 with 25% offcoupon on Antennas Direct website. And perhaps add anAntop adjustable gain amplifier. And Televes and Channel Master make good preamplifiers.

Or consider a compact simple solution, Antop 800SBS antenna with UHF panel, VHF dipole, indoor stand, and built in adjustable gain amplifier. Check Amazon or Antop website for pricing.

Try Antennas Direct ( https://www.antennasdirect.com/) . They will help you determine the best place to put your antenna in your home . You can also use a website called TV Fool . You enter your zip code and it will tell you what channels you can pick up based on your proximty to the TV towers ( https://www.tvfool.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13) . Also any streaming device that runs the Android TV OS ( Chromecast , Onn Box at Walmart ...not that garbage Firestick ) you can get 800 free channels . I think WSOC TV is one of the channels . Channel 9 has a strong full power signal that can be received well in most of the metro Charlotte region. Broadcasting from UHF channel 19. It is a bit stronger to the east of Charlotte due to tower location, which is why they added a booster relay signal from Crowder's Mountain to serve Shelby. However with an 8bay UHF antenna, I receive the main 9.1 signal in Spartanburg, as well as the booster signal on 9.5. Although the translator signal is VHF-12, so you may need a dedicated High VHF antenna, and possibly an amplifier. The other Charlotte signals 3, 36, and 46 transmit from taller towers west of Charlotte in Gaston County on very strong UHF signals.

The rabbitears website is operated by a FCC technician and is more up to date than TV Fool, which may not include updated repack data. Good antenna sources are Antennas Direct, Televes, and Channel Master.

Update: Cox Media is having a contract dispute with DirecTV and Uverse regarding retransmission fees, which may result in Channel 9 being dropped from those platforms unless a last minute agreement is reached. Always good to have an antenna as a back up. Free reception within the coverage area over the air, as well as neighboring regional markets such as Spartanburg where WSOC is not offered on cable at all.

WSOC-TV Channel 9 and WAXN-TV64 have now been dropped by DirecTV due to a contract carriage dispute. An antenna may now be needed as a backup. Good compact indoor choices are Antop 400BV, Antop 800SBS, Clearstream 2V, or Clearstream MAX-V. Spend a little more for a longer term reliable choice rather than a cheap junk antenna. For outside antenna, Televes, Channel Master, or Antennas Direct are good choices. Or possibly Winegard.
