The less scrupulous ones will write long articles about lightening but if you look closely they never say their product does anything about it. People are easily duped and they know it.

I don't know anything about this stuff, but I think I'd be more likely to believe the guy that actually knows how to spell lightning...

These things are worthless if the home or building circuit isn't wired right. You might have a socket that supports ground prong, but that doesn't mean it's connected right outside or on the circuits.. This is the case with most manufactured homes in my experience. You see it with poorly wired build homes too..
