Relocating from Southern California: Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Marvin, Matthews...which is best for families? (Charlotte: homes, neighborhoods)

Hi. Thanks in advance for looking at my post and offering some advice.
We are moving to the Charlotte are within the next few months and having a very difficult time deciding on which area will work best for our family. Our top considerations are excellent schools, great neighborhoods for young kids (8,6 and 3), convenience to shopping, restaurants, work (Ballantyne) and not too far from Shalom Park.
Some of the communities we really like are Ballanmoor (new in Ballantyne), Marvin Creek, Deerfield Creek, Weddington Chase and Brookhaven.
The school assignments for all of them seem to be great (although I do like some more than others), but we are concerned about rezoning which seems very common there. I do realize this seems to be more common in Charlotte than Union, but with most recent growth mainly in Union, I can't imagine that it won't become an issue there as well as tax increases?
We love the idea of the abundance of community amenities that most of the above offer, but I am concerned that they may be further away from shopping/restaurants. The Charlotte area seems so very welcoming and diverse and we were hoping that our children would have some other Jewish kids in their classes too. Are there some schools/subdivisions in Ballantyne/Matthews/Weddington/Waxhaw/Marvin that seem to have some other Jewish families too? The Arboretum area was suggested to us, but we just haven't seen anything we love there on the market.
Chuckles--The Rea Woods neighborhood does look lovely, but the schools that community is zoned for are not rated nearly as well as the others listed. Also, there are no homes currently on the market.
Sdinfjmale--Thanks for the input. I certainly won't rule that out, but I do think we will wind up staying in NC.
You can't go wrong in that southern area you are considering. I would just narrow down the schools you really want and buy smack dab in the middle of the zoned districts. Especially in an established area vs an area full of new construction homes. Union county is slightly more of a risk than Ballantyne, but really who knows what the school board is going to do.
Think about Baxter Village in Fort Mill or Fort Mill in general. Some higher end homes in that price range- but most homes are a bit less. You will like Fort Mill schools- system is smaller than CMS. School nurse in every school- all day, unlike CMS. Your kids are the perfect age for Baxter- tons of kids there. Best wishes- your looking in the right areas.
You cannot go wrong with any of these locations. However, it is personal preference so visit all of the locations a few times before making a decision. :-)
