In re-reading, I can see how that could be the case, and if so, I certainly apologize. My assumption was that she was turning in to the Arboretum. Again, apologies if that wasn't the case.
That said, I stand by the remainder of my comment regarding the lack of turn signal use in general. It's almost like folks don't want others to know what they're planning to do.
Oh it's fine, I wasn't clear. But yes, I was going straight and didn't give any indication of maybe turning by slowing down or using a turn signal. It's a pet peeve of mine as well when they don't use their turn signal.
When all else fails, blame the transplants, right? I'm here from upstate NY and I've driven in Baltimore, DC, Miami, NYC, Boston, Seattle, Chicago... bad drivers are everywhere. Charlotte included. But I'm sure not the locals.
I've seen drivers all over the US throughout the years who won't even move aside for emergency vehicles. It boggles my mind how situationally unaware, or just completely self absorbed in their "right" to be on the road some people are.
I witnessed an accident a few weeks ago where an SUV plowed into an electricity pole, snapping it in half and then flipped over. A vehicle 2 cars ahead of me and much closer to the accident, pulled a U-Turn within seconds of it happening to speed off in the other direction because they were in such a rush to get where they were going. Another SUV drove under the dangling electrical wires trying to turn around and caught them on his roof rack, sending the wires swinging, pole and all, toward the people on the scene actually trying to help the driver in the crashed car. Rather than get out of the car and away from ripped up electrical wires, the driver (granted, in shock) was trying to find his cell phone in the back seat of his car.
nope, I don't dispute that at all. I dispute an uneducated, unsupported statement like "more accidents are caused by more transplants". maybe if the OP was, say an EMT or something and could prove all of the accidents mentioned involved or were caused by transplants, fine. and like you said, if there were STATS collected on this, then fine. but just a random jab at transplants for no factual reason is typical and lame.

It's my opinion... you know, since it's a message board... that transplants from different areas are probably the reason for more accidents.
I'm a transplant so it's not like I'm pointing at a different group and blaming them...
I have been to many other cities and it does seem to be worse here in Charlotte. I blame a number of things. Speed limits are too high on many of the streets, crazy Charlotte infastructure, increase cell phone usage while driving, & then you add a record number of transplants.
The majority of states that supply NC with new residents tend to have much lower fatality rates than NC, with the exception of SC. From my observations of living here for 9 years, there seems to be a high incidence of single-car accidents and drunk driving compared to my former state of NJ. Perhaps some of the natives should start looking in their rear-view mirrors and using turn signals before they accuse "outsiders" as being the predominant cause of NC's much-higher than average fatality rate.
So I guess it wasn't just my perception. In my 6 months in the Charlotte area I've seen more serious accidents than in my 12 years of living in NJ.
One thing I noticed driving around today is that people see using their directionals as optional and too many people are either yapping on their phones or texting. It's illegal in NJ and NY to text and drive and it's also illegal to use your cell without a hands free device so people are less likely to be on their phone for fear of getting fined.
