I am a 29 year old single mother of 3. My kids are 3 months, 4 and 10. I heard that Charlotte is a wonderful place to raise a family but my main concern is the atmosphere, schools and employment. I would like to live in a nice, quiet, family, trouble free community. I'm looking for an apartment no more than 1100 a month. I'm real big on education so I am looking for a school that's not over crowded and has great teachers that believe in taking time to teach. As far as employment, I would be interested in more government, if not customer service.

Default Good Charlotte

I would suggest Ballantyne. I just checked there are some rentals for around $1,000 in Copper Ridge to $1,200 in Blakeney Greens. Good schools and IMO the best area in Charlotte (alright Myers Park is nicer, but expensive).

I tried to look Ballantyne up on Realtor.com but it gave me Burlington. Is that right?

Ballantyne is not a city or town, it's a section of south Charlotte.

No, I base it on zip code 28277. Like Carolina_guy says, it is an area.

The only statement you said that scares me is, you don't want a school that is over crowded. Does NOT exist in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. That is why all schools have so many mobile classrooms.

GOOD LUCK though!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Steele Creek isn't really included. Is that an old map made before the recent development boom?

Charlotte is not the only place to live. Try Mooresville, Huntersville, Concord. All small towns but close to Charlotte, like for a commute. Try to stay in Iredell or Cabarras County, its cheaper then Mecklenburg. Schools are better. Homes and apts are cheaper, some communities in Concord have a elementary and middle school right in the sub division. Check out Moss Creek in Concord. Many new schools even high schools in Mooresville. Lowes home improvement corporate headquarters relocated there. Lots of jobs. Hope you look into this area. you will be surprised.
