Big trees, great schools, proximate to 'beautiful' parks and open space??? Add in the restaurants and to me this poster needs to be inside of route 4.

That's a helluva list for 350.

I know well because I'm hunting under the same parameters. 'Cept I don't consider Matthews or areas outside of Charlotte to be "Charlotte", which was in the criteria when I replied (since removed, evidently).

Also I am strongly opposed to living far from work uptown, which I see is not a concern for the OP. I wouldn't consider anything west of Park... But that's just me. The further south you go the smaller the trees get... What can I say? I love big trees.

Why such a low housing budget with your income levels?

The areas near me that would tick almost all of those checks off except price. 400k - $550k would get you into a nice home in S CLT, near McMullen greenway, dog park, mature wooded lots, good schools, and close to most everything.

There are plenty of neighborhoods that are in your price range but you will likely being giving up one or more of your list or be in a home that is either fairly small or in need of upgrading or your median income will be 3x more than your neighbors.

Chadwick Farms, Cottonwood, Carrington, Rosecliff, Rea Woods are a few I am familiar with in the 400+ range and would meet all your criteria minus price.

Of course there are

Stone Creek Ranch, Callonwood in the south end of the county, Baxter in Fort Mill, Macaulay and Monteith in Huntersville, just to name a very few.

Hey tifanyelaine1,
My husband and I are pretty much in the same boat and would love your advice. Did y'all make the move? If so, where did you end up and are you happy with the neighborhood? Also, did you use a realtor? We are making the move in a few weeks and really need some guidance. Thank you. Happy Holidays.
