I prefer OMB due to the fact they make German style beers. I love OMB's Dunkel, Weizen, and Mektoberfest style beers. I am not a fan of IPA's so I usually skip buying that type of beer.
If you have a hard time finding a beer you like, brew your own! The Carolina Brewmasters is a large local club that loves to help beginning brewers. We have brew sessions to show you how it's done, and there are usually many samples too.
I have found some of the homebrews are better than some of the commercial beers.
We have our meetings the first Wednesday of the month at Dilworth Neighborhood Grill, and all are welcome, no charge. If you are interested, send me a PM and you can go as my guest. There are many excellent brewers in the club, and also many that don't even brew. Don't feel intimidated into thinking everyone is a master brewer.
Noda's HDR is really good. I like OMB's jalapeno ale too. I've been wanting to try out "coco loco" by Noda, but haven't seen it in stores at all. Probably have to head to the brewery to get my hand on that.

Coco Loco is currently served in dozens of local bars & restaurants, so you mightn't necessarily need to make a trip to the brewery. But it's also the next NODA Brewing beer to be sold in cans, so it'll be available at some grocery stores, too. My local Harris Teeter doesn't carry any NoDa beers which is an absolute joke....I don't know who is responsible for that particular planogram. Trader Joe's started stocking NoDa beers about 3 weeks ago.
There are a number of cideries that are set to open in the next year or so, I'm looking forward to those!
Windy Hill Orchards is in York County, but their hard cider is very good.
