Hi,
I will be away for business for 2 months and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can get my mail held for this period of time? I know normally USPS holds mail up to 30 days but are there any options to get it held longer?-- would opening a PO box allow me to hold mail for this time?

Have you asked the post office if you can renew the hold online after 30 days? I believe that's what most people do but that was in Florida with the snow bunnies.

Try this link:

https://holdmail.usps.com/holdmail/

Scroll toward the bottom right where it says:"Gone longer than 30 days?"

I was out of town for 10 weeks at a location in Florida and had my mail forwarded to the main PO in town there. Some PO's do not handle mail forwarded to the office for collection by the recipient. Usually a main or largest PO offers this. The list is on the USPS site. The length of this service is 30 days, however I know my carrier and he agreed to do it as long as I needed. He is the one who must take the action based on my request. The 4th class mail is discarded. This means no circulars, crap, junk, or unsolicited advertising. How little mail there was after this was eliminated. Subscriptions are forwarded, such as magazines.
Another option is to create a change of address to a new location, such as a PO box. I was afraid that this would inevitably result in lost mail.
The option for Premium forwarding where the carrier wraps your mail weekly and sends it to some address that you specify involves additional fees which the standard forwarding does not.
I suggest you discuss this with your carrier as I did. My guy was most helpful and I gave him a small reward for his assistance.

Seems a question to ask the post office rather than a forum.
