We live in Orlando and looking for a place to move for settling down with 2 kids (4 and 2). One of our main criteria is the technology job market since both my husband and I work in IT. I have researched a little bit but not really sure what the situation currently is like..places like Charlotte, Raleigh, Chapel hill
I'm looking to get some insights and feedback on the availability and abundance of IT jobs there..
appreciate all the help..

Charlotte has an decent tech sector.. Raleigh/Chapel Hill is the best in state, one of the best in the country.
Thanks for your input...that is comforting - here in orlando there is not a lot of IT jobs so that is on the top of my list in the cities we are considering to move to..I know NC is no silicon valley - I'm not sure move to Bay area would be feasible given the cost of living there. This is the reason we are looking are looking at a more affordable place...
Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill has the Research Triangle Park.. which is one of the best tech areas in the country. IBM, Cisco, Citrix, EMC, etc all have a very large presence in the area. I personally work for an IT company in Charlotte, there are IT jobs here, but the Raleigh area has far far more.
Raleigh is the big boy for Tech/IT, Charlotte has a solid amount if you work for a financial institution or there is a research park by UNC Charlotte along with Innovation park, and Wells CIC with HP, Electrolux, IBM, Wells Fargo, Areva, AON Hewitt, Fox Sports, Verbatim, Siemens, Wells Fargo, Flextronics, and more.
There are plenty of IT jobs here, but like others have said already, there are far more IT jobs in the Raleigh area. I'm a software developer and I didn't have a problem finding a job here when I relocated from Virginia in August.
Thanks ... We are planning to look for jobs in both San Jose and nc and make a decision based on where we get a decent position. What do you think about this plan?

Sounds good to me.. Everybody and their brother moved to NC thinking it has an abundance of jobs, that didn't help the job seeker on the labor supply side of the equation.

Good plan. Just make sure to adjust for COL based on San Jose vs NC. San Jose is much more expensive. I believe that area has some of the most expensive real estate in the country.
