My family and I are considering moving to NC from Phoenix. I've heard good things about the city but am curious if anyone has any recommendations or what to expect (besides the obvious weather change). In Phoenix you can hardly go anywhere without being the minority because everyone speaks Spanish, DES is abused (while I don't use the benefits and there are people who need it, I work in healthcare and definitely see it taken advantage of which is why it's hard for kids like brother who was born with a congenital cardiac abnormality to get treated), being bilingual will you get you a job over experience, and so I've accepted that's how it is now and that's okay; I don't have anything against anyone. It's just time to move . NC has always looked beautiful to me (I have lived on the east side before) and while I'm sure it has it set backs like any other state, I would be extremely thankful if anyone could share what they would want someone to tell them if they were the ones moving. I'm also open to other cities. Thank you all so much.

The reality is, unless you are independently wealthy you want to move where you can secure a job.
If you manage to get one in Charlotte or the metro come back and give us it's location and we can advise you on where to look to live
If I had to pick between AZ and NC, I'd pick AZ, for sure. AZ is definitely more open and tolerant than the South--no one cares what religion you are, where you're from, or who you sleep with. No one in AZ is gonna call you a "Yankee," either. Just a whole 'nother ball of wax from NC and the South.
