A NY real estate agent with a NC cosmetology license who can't decide between NC, FL, OH, and IN? This ought to be interesting.

Both Charlotte and Raleigh have lots of transplants from NY and elsewhere. Raleigh has had them for a longer time due to the presence of the multiple universities in the area as well as the Research Triangle Park. Maybe I'm wrong, but on visits to Raleigh, it does not really "feel" quite as southern as Charlotte.
IN my opinion, it does not matter as much where you live as the friends that you have. Charlotte and Raleigh are big and diverse enough that you can find friends who will have a similar mindset to your own and you can be happy. For instance, most of my friends tend to me international, since I myself am half German and have spent lots of time In Europe. Thus I gravitate to people with similar experiences.

I'd say Charlotte is slightly more intune to the ways of a NYer seems more urban.

It seems like you have never been to Charlotte or Raleigh & have tossed darts at a map & plan to move to where the darts landed.

During the real estate boom people from the NYC metro were streaming into South Jersey & most hated it because it wasn't like where they came from. Why in the world would you think that somewhere over 600 miles away will work for you when you don't want to work with local realtors? This just seems fishy to me.

I can tell from this question, that NC is not what you're looking for. People who move here after very little research wanting a "recreation of Noo Yawk" are not happy and spend their whole time letting everyone know it, and end up moving back.

Nowhere is like NY, and NC most certainly is not. Try a large city such a DC, Chicago, Dallas, even Atlanta. NC is NOT New York and we like it that way.

But if you insist on moving here with that attitude, at the very least come down for a scouting trip and visit the places you are considering. It is most definitely not true that "North Carolina is North Carolina", any more than Fire Island and Manhattan and Rochester rural upstate are "all New York". You come across as very ignorant of a state you claim to want to move to, and if you're looking for a mini-NY, you will not be happy here, nor will people like you.

Do your research, and if there are genuine reasons for your move, please elaborate them--but if you want somewhere that's like New York, well, stay in New York. Nowhere is like New York. Look into Chicago etc if you demand the same kind of lifestyle as NY, but don't move to NC and expect this state to mold itself to your expectations. You have only yourself to blame if you come expecting NC to be something it isn't, and we most certainly aren't interested in what things are like where you come from that you think they should be like here.

PS, you claim to have a real estate license but don't appear to know how to do simple research yourself on things like climate?

Many from NY tend to like Cary. Try there.

The juxtaposition of the last two posts is rather amusing.

Would you also be able to send it to me? I have the same question but I will phrase it better.
