What are the pros and cons of both of these towns?

Well cost is a big factor. You can buy more house for the money is Waxhaw. But you would be a bit further away from the i-485/providence road interchage.

There will be pros and cons to every locale - depends on what your motivation is.

Well I'll start. Weddington is much smaller and the real estate more expensive. You will have more choices and your money will go a little further in Waxhaw. A lot of new construction in Waxhaw as well if that's what your looking for. Motivated builders too

Also remember because an address has a Waxhaw mailing address doesnt actually mean they are in the town of Waxhaw...it is mighty confusing at 1st...

My husband has a job interview in Monroe and these are 2 of the places he liked when he was there last and I just wanted to get as much info as possible before we visit the area at the end of this month. Is there any difference in the quality of the schools or in the crime rate? Thanks!

There are many highly desirable schools in Weddington and Waxhaw.

Don't forget about Wesley Chapel We have the best little school ever right next to my neighborhood. Good luck. Both towns are lovely.

Be prepared, you will have so many great choices your head will spin. Also, the Waxhaw mailing address covers a large area which includes the Town of Waxhaw, Marvin and Wesley Chapel. A Waxhaw address could send your children to Parkwood, Marvin, Weddington or the new HS on Cuthberston (opening in 2009). If you can give a price range we can name some communities for you to visit. You can then evaluate the schools. They all seem fine but you will find a big difference between Parkwood and Marvin. To me, working in Monroe gives you great flexability and range to choose your location. 75, Weddington/84, and New Town Rds all run into Monroe. I'll say you have come to the right place for information, this board has been a blessing for our family and helped a great deal in our recent move to the area. Best of luck.

Somewhere in the 450k range. We have 1 child in middle school so middle and high schools are important. I am glad to have found this forum, it is always nice to get opinions from people who live in the area instead of just looking at pictures online.
