Sorry, I'm sure this is a topic that's been covered before and I don't mean to stir up the pot. I was just wondering why people think Charlotte is boring? Is Charlotte boring? I actually kind of find it to be fun.

I don't think Charlotte is boring at all. I can always find numerous interesting things to do on the weekends and during the week.

In some big cities, you may just go outside, walk down the street and right away you will bump into some entertainment, like bars, live music, events and so on. In Charlotte, you have to research how to entertain yourself. For some people it means boring. I am a self sufficient person, and great weather is enough to spent all my free time outdoors and stay entertained.

That can happen in Charlotte if you live in the right areas. If you live 30 miles from the city you can't expect to find that on every corner.

Charlotte is a small town full of rednecks, NASCAR, no culture, and a few big buildings. Haven't you heard?

It is very easy to fall into the suburban trap, or if you live even farther out--- the exurbs (Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Huntersville, Mooresville, Cornelius, et al). People get stuck in their immediate neighborhoods and don't even know what's nearby, and the city is more than thirty minutes away, so people stay home.

If you're bored with everyday life, MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN! Start a club, start a band, start a baseball team. Overcome inertia! Start doing things. Find out what's OUT THERE!

It all depends on what you like to do. Some people like to be close to a beach and think Charlotte is boring because of it. Some people think Charlotte has no culture because there is no China Town or there are no Cuban, Jamaican, etc Festivals compared to LA, NYC, or Chicago. They forget that Charlotte has a lot smaller population that doesn't support that.

There are things to do in Charlotte if you look for them. Charlotte still gets a good amount of concerts, plays, sports, and there are a couple of festivals each year.
