Ok my husband is possibly getting on with Charlotte PD and would need to relocate from where we are in TN. We are looking for an area that is safe (obiously) good school systems, we have a 2 year old. Close to restaurants and shopping. The lower the taxes the better. But one of our things is we want some land to build on and have horses. hopefully 5 acres or more. Where would be a good area for us? Any suggestions? is the cost of land/housing high out there?
wow, going to be a commute to get 5 acres and still be close to Charlotte. Is he aware that CMPD does not give take home vehicles to the rookies? Going to be overkill in gas alone.
I think the best area for you will be North East of Charlotte. Harrisburg towards Mount Pleasant. Best taxes in the area, not over priced land, not a bad commute.
BRKLYN2CLT is right , I "think" they may need to stay in Mecklenburg county or have specific resdency requirements - if not -> have a look at some areas just south of Waxhaw near (but not in) the SC border. Lots of land still available that way .
5 Ac. anywhere in Meck. is costly. I live in Mint Hill which borders Union and Cabbarus county where land is less expensive. The first thing is to check out the requirements of the dept. The schools around this area are great. You could possibly find land a little more toward the Harrisburg area (Cabbarus Co.) Which is still in the same vicinity. I hope this helps.
5ac Good Luck. Land has become costly sice 485 has been completed up to 85 on the north side in Cabarrus County. You will probably have to go more toward Mt Pleasant, unless you have a ton of money. Dont know the requirements of MCPD on residency but I think they do have a residency requirement, just dont know how far you can live from the county line
