Belmont Town Center is a rumored retail center on Southpoint Road across from South Point High School. Its major tenant would be a Harris Teeter, coming as early as 2016. Additional retail and office components and 98 homes and apartments may be included.
Has there been any progressions with Belmont Town Center?
We are looking to relocate to Belmont and I was wondering the same. I saw the sign for the Harris Teeter on that road when we were visiting in Feb. Not sure if it was just for the grocery store or if it mentioned the whole town center (I remember just grocery.) I'd love to know!

I don't know any specifics other than the Harris Teeter is going in. This may have something to do with an upscale housing development that is supposed to be built near the lake.
There is a lack of grocery choices in Belmont. When the Ingles opened in Kings Mountain people were driving there to shop until the Ingles opened in Dallas. Right now I think that the choices in Belmont are Bi-Lo, Aldi & Wal-Mart.
ETA: Belmont needs more apartments. There are hardly any there.

I think that that's the type of development that will become more prevalent west of Charlotte, at least in the towns smaller than Gastonia, from Belmont to Kings Mountain, & to an extent in Gastonia as well, away from the urban core.

Haven't heard anything. I had to go to Mt Holly the other day & decided to come back via 74. I saw no signs but wasn't down that way. I did see new apartments though. Kings Mountain has new apartments & a Charlotte builder was given permission to build a new housing development.
To be honest, I think that the school situation in Union County & the toll road situation on 77 has some people looking to the west who wouldn't have looked west before.

I am not aware of any developments regarding the new Harris Teeter. Harris Teeter is soliciting bids for the construction, expansion and renovation of new and existing stores in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Belmont Town Center is not among those stores.
If Publix or Ingle's announce a store for Belmont, Harris Teeter should get the ball rolling on its Belmot Town Center store.
A land developer bought all that old Stowe property right off the lake there, right down there were Armstrong rd wraps around and hits South New Hope rd. Where that old white farmhouse sits and all the georgous farm land. Its a shame but it is what it is. They are planning to put 50 homes or so out there. Nice big homes. Soon as that is done I am guessing they will build the town center.
The lower armstrong area in Belmont will be booming. Great neighborhoods on the lake, Forest Bay and Misty Waters.
