I have read in more than one thread that someone CANNOT find a job. Are the job ads, job boards, etc, not hiring, not enough openings? Because I search at least once a week, and I find job ops. Maybe these jobs and for Aeronautical Engineers or Entertainment Attorney's. Now that I can see. But in a dense populated city like Charlotte, has to be substantial jobs? Or am I wrong?

Keep in mind that's probably not factoring in those who come down here without jobs, since any unemployment would most likely have to be filed against the state you left. Given the growth, if you factored that amount in, the 5% is probably much higher.

In addition, the more adverturesome amongst us sometimes have given up looking for a job and started their own small businesses - or are freelancing or working on temporary contracts. I know several people in IT who are doing short term contract work - and when the contract is over- they will be unemployed again.
Something I had explained to me several years ago about CLT and ads for work - Often the very industries advertising for job openings have laid off people, and are advertising the jobs just to post openings that will go to re-hires. This is especially true in the financial and IT sectors.
A temp agency may be the best place to contact, depending on one's field.
So yes, jobs are "that hard to find" in Charlotte.
Does anyone have any info on the job market for sales in either moving/storage or freight? It sounds like the market is tight in finance and IT b/c those are the big industries in Charlotte. I'm hoping we'll have more success in sales in either of these areas.
Freightliner has just started posting positions but their website is quirky (i.e. career pages don't load right). They have moved from Charlotte to Fort Mill, SC right across the border, on Gold Hill Rd. Check out their site to see if there might be another way to contact this firm.
So anyone work in the marketing/advertising/pR industry? I have four years experience some grad school work and a bachelors in Marketing. Any advice? Please be forthcoming.

Yes, absolutely! Many of the requisition numbers you posted on company websites are only posted out of obligation. Sometimes, like you said, they go to re-hires. More than once I even had it where the position was pulled shortly after posting. Of course they don't tell you that until you wait and finally call them back (a very, very, very common occurrence here).

Freightliner is actually relocating from Portland, Oregon and will be operating in the June or July timeframe.
